Why underestimating the CS exam could result in failure:

You’ll pass the Step 2 CS exam as long as you speak English…

These words are responsible for a massive number of medical students failing the CS exam… How do I know?

I’ve trained hundreds of students who’ve told me that they took these words to heart and ended up failing as a result.

It’s an exception rather than a rule that most people pass the exam without proper preparation.

Since the CS exam is known as the ‘easy’ USMLE exam, you should actually put more effort into its preparation to ensure success!

Taking the CS exam’s difficulty for granted can actually makes a failure look worse…

Since the exam is PASS/FAIL, you’re not given the luxury of a solid score the second time around to prove that you improved significantly, it is always Pass or Fail.

Does a failure on the exam that everybody is supposed to pass look even worse to the Residency Program directors looking at your resume? It could.

Here’s the point…

The CS exam is believed to be easy, so you need to put twice as much effort into its preparation as you think you should.

So, what can you do?

Understand that you need to work harder than you think you should in preparing for it… The harder you prepare, the easier you’ll find it, and the better your chances of passing.

The second step is to ensure that you know exactly what you need to do throughout the exam… The thing about the CS that most students don’t realize is that it isn’t like doing your rotations in this hospital settings…

In reality, the CS exam requires that you have a certain set of skills that are specific to the CS exam… Skills that you need to develop specifically for this exam…

This means that you need to ensure that you know exactly what to do from start to finish…

Do yourself a favor today and don’t underestimate the difficulty and challenges that the CS exam could pose… The sooner you realize this, the easier of a time you’ll have on your CS exam.
